Index Engines expands Unified Discovery Platform

Adds support for Lotus Notes, CommVault and UltraBac

By CBR Staff Writer

Index Engines, a provider of enterprise discovery offerings, has expanded its Unified Discovery Platform to include support for email and backup formats. It provides content and metadata indexing, search and extraction support for Lotus Notes email, and support for discovery of all email and unstructured data backed up with CommVault and UltraBac.

Index Engines said that its platform enables enterprise IT and litigation support teams to deduplicate, search and extract through one unified platform, and reduce redundancy, time and cost associated with using multiple tools to access only segments of their ESI. The data access is done without the need to first restore the data, and at speeds of 1TB per hour.

According to Index Engines, the platform indexes data from all storage containers and makes information locked on historical backup tapes accessible – without the need to restore the content. It indexes, searches and separates the relevant content from the mass of enterprise data, regardless of location, format or age.

The new functionality joins Index Engines’ already support for other common backup formats including Symantec NetBackup, BackupExec, Legato Networker, IBM Tivoli, Computer Associates ArcServe and NT Backup.

Jim McGann, VP of information discovery at Index Engines, said: “We are committed to enabling the access to and management of all stored data. As Index Engines continues to expand its platform and support more file formats and different backup types, we move even closer to making all enterprise information truly discoverable.”
