Small businesses can face the very same challenges as large enterprises when it comes to searching through electronic data for records that could be used as evidence in a legal case, and is something that has led iEnterprises Inc to develop an e-discovery toolset for Lotus Domino.

The ISV is best known for its line in wired and wireless SMB customer relationship management systems. It also specialises in connecting CRM to systems like Lotus Notes and its new iComply email archiving and e-discovery software for Lotus Domino, captures and stores Lotus Notes email for compliance purposes.

The company said iComply promises more efficient capture and store of Lotus Notes email for better compliance with government regulations, corporate policy and electronic discovery obligations.

An inbuilt rules-base can be configured by the system administrator to ensure that information is archived and removed to a set policy, and is kept for an appropriate period of time.

Mark Creasey, MD of iEnterprises Europe said the product “helps companies with Lotus Notes take control of their email archiving and deletions in a secure, centralised and hassle free way.”

Privately-held iEnterprises, which has its main offices in New Jersey, is currently working to integrate with IBM’s new LotusLive service that will eventually give users access to CRM information from a BlackBerry or Windows Mobile handheld.

The new iComply software can be accessed either through a Lotus Notes interface or a web- based interface, and comes with an option to create audit trails based on contact records and message threads and any associated attachments.

The system can be set up to ensure businesses adhere to a long line of regulations such as FRCP, NASD 3010, SEC 17a-4, HIPAA , 21 CFR Part 11 , Sarbanes- Oxley, and the UK Data Protection and Freedom of Information Act.
