IBM has unveiled InfoSphere Guardium 8, a data security software, that automatically monitors structured data and application usage across the enterprise and alerts management to unusual activity.

The new offering allows organisations to simplify security and compliance regulations with a single set of automated and centralised controls for a broader range of enterprise databases and applications.

In addition, the new security platform helps clients to meet compliance mandates by delivering information governance controls, to ensure the privacy and integrity of corporate data while simplifying audits.

IBM said that the new data security offering features include: fraud protection for SAP systems; protection of SharePoint files; support for the Mainframe; improved compliance and audit processes; advanced blocking and quarantining; and integration with Tivoli software.

The new InfoSphere Guardium 8 software will be available in mid-September, and will be offered as a pre-configured appliance or virtual appliance for rapid deployment and simplified maintenance.
