IBM has launched the Institute for Advanced Security in Europe, which is a part of its company-wide initiative to provide government and other key organisations with a global network of security research, services, software and technology expertise.
The Brussels-based Institute for Advanced Security is designed to help address and mitigate the issues associated with securing cyber space by: connecting government and private sector organisations, academics and business partners with IBM research, services, software and technology experts.
The institute also helps organisations tap into new security technology in areas such as analytics, privacy-sensitive identity technology and encryption.
IBM said that the new institute will provide organisations with resources including podcasts, X-Force expertise, blogs and best practices that address rising security issues around cyber security, cloud computing and endpoint management.
In addition, the Institute will address specific issues such as mobile device security.
IBM institute for advanced security in Europe director Martin Borrett said their European clients rely upon vast amounts of information stored on distributed computer systems and openly shared across public and private networks yet they are struggling to effectively secure this critical information.

"The Institute for Advanced Security will link these organisations with IBM’s broad array of security scientists, researchers and experts to help them understand the complex issues associated with addressing their cyber security challenges," Borrett said.
