IBM has added new features to its SmartCloud platform for enterprise-level public, private and hybrid cloud models.

The new features include File Synch and Share, allowing employees to access the cloud and share files securely either online or offline through their smartphone or tablet, desktop application or browser.

IBM social business general manager Alistair Rennie said that successful workforces are fuelled by powerful social technologies that give employees access to vital information on the go.

"We are giving businesses the opportunity to forever change how employees work through new powerful features that allow them easily to remain connected and productive from anywhere," Rennie added.

The company has also introduced the Sametime 9 service that helps employees to engage experts in real-time through multi-way voice or video call in an online meeting within their social environment.

Other features of the IBM SmartCloud Connections include new community capabilities like social bridging, offering a view of social content from related communities as well as traditional office social networking tools.

The IBM SmartCloud Notes offers a set of social capabilities in the context of the user’s mail experience, helping employees to shift between social tools including communities, projects and files they are sharing in a unified dashboard.
