IBM opens up QRadar security analytics platform

News: Partners offer new QRadar security analytics apps using open programming tools.

By CBR Staff Writer

IBM has opened its security analytics platform in order to help battle organised cybercrime.

IBM Security QRadar has been designed to analyse data across an organisation’s IT infrastructure to identify potential security threats.

It will automatically take actions after the detection of specific threats.

IBM Security vice president, strategy and product management Marc van Zadelhoff said: "With thousands of customers now standardising on IBM’s security technologies, opening this platform for closer collaboration and development with partners and customers changes the economics of fighting cybercrime.

"Sharing expertise across the security industry will allow us to innovate more quickly in order to help stay ahead of increasingly sophisticated attacks."

The company is further integrating QRadar with IBM BigFix endpoint security management to help customers better prioritise threats and patches on user devices.

QRadar can now detect the exposed endpoints that do not have BigFix installed, helping clients identify rogue or unmanaged assets more rapidly.

The company is also launching the IBM Security App Exchange, which will allow customers, developers and business partners to share applications, security app extensions and improvemnets to the company’s security products.

Users can obtain apps that extend the capabilities of IBM Security solutions; share best practices and learn from others; and find solutions in near real-time.
