By CBR Staff Writer

IBM has introduced its SmartCloud Desktop Infrastructure applications, a new suite of workplace applications that enable organisations to manage desktops centrally.

SmartCloud Desktop Infrastructure will offer access to small or large numbers of users to desktop applications from any location or device, including personal computers, tablets, smart phones, laptops and thin clients.

SmartCloud Desktop Infrastructure applications will help clients get ahead in the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend and simplifies desktop management, tightens security and enhances overall employee productivity.

IBM’s new suite of applications is tested across hardware, software and services to help streamline IT administration and help take the guess work out of the transition to a virtual desktop environment.

These applications are were created in collaboration with application providers such as Citrix, Virtual Bridges and VMware, the company said.

IBM System x Business general manager Adalio Sanchez said the company’s ecosystem of partners and open-reference approach provide several time-tested virtual desktop applications for multiple environments.

"Together, we’re able to bring the power of virtual computing to any size company seeking secure, end-to-end solutions that provide greater agility, reduced costs and complexity, while freeing up critical IT resources," Sanchez said.
