IBM has added its integrated social mail application, IBM Notes and Domino Social Edition 9 to its social business platform.

The move is expected simplify and accelerate social business adoption by offering employees a single point access point for collaboration tools like social media, email, group activities and blogs, the company said.

IBM Notes and Domino Social Edition 9 could allow allow employees access to all of their social collaboration tools which will help in improving productivity.

The applications is available with different deployment options including on premises, in the IBM SmartCloud, hybrid or mobile devices while it supports the device platforms such as iPhone, Android device, Windows Phone and BlackBerry 10.

The company also plans to offer a new social connector for Outlook and for combining with Microsoft Exchange that would the user to get shared files, communities and other social capabilities into the Outlook.

A study by IBM revealed that 82% of chief marketing officers (CMO) plan to increase the use of social media in the upcoming three to five years that accounts to 57% of the social business platforms to connect with customers from the current 16%.

According to Osterman Research, about 116 billion emails are sent and received by about 800 million workers every day, which is greater than the Facebook and Twitter.
