IBM has acquired CrossIdeas, an Italian firm which offers security software for access control, to enhance its security offering for enterprise data management.
CrossIdeas provides security software that ensures its clients can access applications and data that are permitted under corporate governance, business process rules, and regulatory compliance across enterprise and cloud environments.
The technology used by CrossIdeas helps in reducing human error, fraud and conflict of duties in business processes.
The acquired firm will be a part of IBM’s Access Management Portfolio and will deliver next generation identity and access governance capabilities using analytics to verify user identity, block backdoors and grant access to database.

The two companies have been partners for some time now, and CrossIdeas already allows IBM customers to deploy integrated access governance and user lifecycle management technologies using IBM’s Security Identity Management (ISIM) portfolio.
The merger will help ISIM customers introduce access governance capabilities without major changes to their existing environment.
