i365,a Seagate Company, has unveiled EVault for Microsoft System Centre Data Protection Manager, a heterogeneous disk-based data protection offering that allows IT managers to extend Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2010 across non-Microsoft platforms and into the Cloud, using EVault data protection software and Cloud-Connected storage offerings infrastructure.

The company said that DPM 2010 offers data protection for Windows servers and clients as a backup and recovery offering from Microsoft, for Windows environments. It also provides supportable restore scenarios for Windows environments to disk, tape and cloud.

According to i365, the backup and recovery appliance EVault for DPM combines DPM’s unified data protection for Microsoft Windows servers and applications with EVault’s protection for non-Microsoft platforms and cloud connectivity. It facilitates customers to send both their DPM and EVault-protected backup data to the i365 Cloud and get offsite disaster recovery protection.

i365 said that its cloud is supported by SAS70 Type II-certified data centres to ensure ironclad protection of data. The optional cloud-connected storage service includes replication of the backup data over the internet to the cloud, and maintains backup copies of data in the i365 Cloud.

In addition, the new offering is made available in various configurations. The hardware will be powered by Dell technology and will ship factory-installed with both DPM and EVault Software with a common user interface to help customers monitor their entire heterogeneous environment. It also includes helpful wizards that will guide customers through the setup process.

Terry Cunningham, senior vice president and general manager at i365, said: “Customers can expect to see more innovative Cloud-Connected offerings from i365 moving forward as we continue to help our customers meet the challenges of maintaining business continuity in cross-platform, multi-site environments.”
