HP, Lockheed Martin receive US authorisation to provide cloud services

The authorisation will allow the agencies to leverage HP's pATO

By CBR Staff Writer

HP Enterprise Services and Lockheed Martin have received Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) authorisation from the US FedRAMP Joint Authorization Board to provide secure community cloud services to federal, state and local agencies.

FedRAMP is a standardised approach by US government for cloud security assessments, authorisation, and monitoring which aims to eliminate redundant agency security assessments, to save the government money, time, and staff.

The authorisation will help government agencies reduce the time taken to adopt new IT capabilities while maintaining security compliance.

The authorisation will allow the agencies to use HP’s pATO and employ their own ATO without undertaking duplicative assessments.

HP Enterprise Services US Public Sector senior vice president and general manager Marilyn Crouther said that the high sensitivity of the data stored in the cloud requires government CIOs and IT managers to adopt cloud solutions that are trustworthy, reliable and consistent.

"FedRAMP authorisation represents a critical milestone in HP’s efforts to deliver a secure converged cloud to our U.S. government clients, helping us establish strong partnerships and increase clients’ confidence in the security of their cloud systems," Crouther said.

HP ECS-VPC offers consumption-based managed cloud services, designed for enterprise-grade workloads and high levels of availability and security to the government agencies, while the company also provides Infrastructure as a Service.
