HP expands its desktop-to-data-centre virtualisation portfolio

HP t310 Zero Client is optimised for VMware virtual desktop users and handles the multimedia needs for users in VMware View environments

By CBR Staff Writer

HP has expanded its desktop-to-data-centre virtualisation portfolio for VMware View environments with new applications to help enterprises accelerate the deployment of virtual desktop technologies.

The new applications include: HP t310 Zero Client, t410 Smart Zero Client with PCoIP Optimized software, Client Virtualization Generation 8 (Gen8) Reference Architecture for Citrix XenDesktop on VMware vSphere and Teradici host card.

HP t310 Zero Client is optimised for VMware virtual desktop users and handles the multimedia needs for users in VMware View environments.

The zero client features the new Teradici Tera2 PCoIP zero client processor, delivering an enhanced performance client endpoint for virtual desktops.

HP t310 with VMware View offers quick deployment and manageability with no operating system updates or codecs to manage, data security with AES256-bit encryption, with additional smart card support and protection against data loss with secure authentication and authorisation of all USB peripheral devices and lockdown of restricted devices.

The HP t410 Smart Zero Client offers PCoIP Optimized software, a software application that increases the computing performance and enhances user experience of smart zero clients in VMware virtualized environments.

HP has also introduced a new Reference Architecture, the HP Client Virtualization Gen8 Reference Architecture for Citrix XenDesktop on VMware vSphere that is designed to support virtual desktops.

The architecture joins other HP VMware View Reference Architectures and serves as "blueprints" for server, storage, networking and software configurations that accelerate deployment and enhance the efficiency of IT infrastructures.

HP rack and blade servers now support the Teradici APEX 2800 Server Offload Card to provide a consistent high-performance VDI end-user experience.

The card offloads PCoIP image encoding tasks and reduces sever CPU utilisation, helping IT managers to protect and ensure a consistent user experience while workloads change. It is compatible with all HP thin and zero clients in VMware View environments and comes in PCI-E, MXM form factors.
