Communications and information technology company Harris Corporation and Vmware have revealed that Harris’ Trusted Enterprise Cloud is available as a VMware vCloud Powered service offering for federal and enterprise customers.
Vmware claimed that vCloud Powered recognition will enable Harris to meet the demanding technology standards of federal and commercial customers.
Recognition as vCloud Powered is based on Harris’ use of VMware virtualisation software including the company’s engineering, cyber integration capabilities, and trust enablement technologies.
The company said Harris Trusted Enterprise Cloud will meet the cloud computing requirements of the US Federal Government, including NIST 800-53 High, FISMA, and S-CAP.
The platform also comes with Harris’ patented trust enablement technology, which includes the Global Trust Repository and the Enterprise Trust Server, and is based on Vmware’s technologies including vSphere and vCloud Director.
The company said these technologies provide pervasive monitoring, continuous assurance, and supply chain attestation that the software and configurations in the cloud environment are deployed and operating according to specifications.
Cloud computing is a top priority for CIOs of commercial and government IT organisations, and Federal guidelines including the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the recent TechAmerica CLOUD2 report are critical to the adoption of cloud computing.
