Hackers attack Jeep’s Twitter account and replace company logo

The attack is similar to the attack on Burger King's Twitter account

By CBR Staff Writer

Hackers attacked The Twitter account of US-based carmaker, Jeep, and replaced the company’s logo with Cadillac’s image.

Hackers posted a statement saying Jeep, which is a brand of Chrysler Group, had been sold to General Motors luxury brand.

"The official Twitter handle for the Jeep – Just Empty Every Pocket. Sold to Cadillac … In a hood near you!," said one tweet.

"Sorry guys … no more Jeep production because we caught our CEO doing this," read another tweet that linked to a picture of a man inhaling on what appeared to be a bong.

A Cadillac spokesman in Detroit told Reuters the brand had no official comment, other than to observe there was "some Twitter mischief going on."

A spokesman for Chrysler Group said that he had no idea if the two cases were linked, although he said the visuals looked similar.

The attack is similar to the attack on Burger King’s Twitter account in which the company’s logo was replaced with McDonald’s.
