Google pulls its Gmail app for iOS hours after release

Users got an error when they tried to open the app for the first time

By CBR Staff Writer

Google launched its much-awaited Gmail app for iOS yesterday, but had to pull it after slightly more than hour following user complaints.

According to media reports, many users saw an error message when they tried to open the app for the first time.

In its blog, Google said that the reason for the error was due to a bug that broke notifications, and added that they are working on new version, which they are planning to launch soon.

In addition, many users were not able see the virtual keyboard when they tried to respond to an email or compose a new one. Moreover, several users reported not being able to see any labels while swiping the interface from left to right.

Google has offered an apology for the app on its official Twitter account, and said that they will fix the problem and re-release the Gmail app for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Google has released this new app for users of Apple’s iOS products in the hope that it would provide even better functionality and features similar to Gmail’s Web app.

Gmail, Google’s popular free email service was already available as an HTML5-based web app for the iOS devices.
