Google is set to roll out its new Material Design-inspired Maps app for Android and iOS users, which also comes with improved Uber integration.

Google Maps UX Designer Evelyn Kim said: "Over the next few days, when you open up Google Maps on your Android or iPhone, you’ll be greeted by bright colours and a fresh new design.

"This new look is all about creating surfaces and shadows that echo the real world; with Google Maps’ new material feel, layers and buttons come to life so you know just where to touch to get directions, recommendations and imagery."

New Google Maps

The revamped version of Google Maps comes with options including a direct link to the OpenTable restaurant platform for reserving a table. New Uber features include offering users expected pick-up times and prices for the Uber trip.

From May 2014, Google started offering users Uber integration features that allowed them to compare their Uber trip with transit and walking directions from maps.

Kim added: "This new look is all about creating surfaces and shadows that echo the real world; with Google Maps’ new material feel, layers and buttons come to life so you know just where to touch to get directions, recommendations and imagery."
