Search engine company Google has launched a UK movie rental service through its Android Market.

The UK service is expected to start initially with 1,000 titles, with prices starting from £2.59. Movies can be either streamed or downloaded, but those must be viewed within 30 days of purchase. Once started, films must be watched within 48 hours. Users can pay for the service with Visa, Mastercard, Amex or Discover debit and credit cards.

The Android ‘Videos’ app is available now from the Android Market and compatible with Android 2.2, 2.3, and 3.1 devices. Users can also watch movies on their TV using an HDMI cable, or computer.

The company has already launched its Movies for Android service in the US. Recently Google had unveiled its e-books service in the UK. Google has also recently launched its film rentals via its video site YouTube.
