Search engine company Google has unveiled its new shopping app ‘Google Catalogs’ for tablet devices.

The Google Catalogs app, available for both Android-based tablets and iPads, features digital versions of catalogues across many categories, including fashion and apparel, beauty, jewelry, home, kids and gifts.

Google has partnered with several brands for the feature including: Anthropologie, Bare Escentuals, Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdale’s, L.L. Bean, Sundance Catalog, Tea Collection, Urban Outfitters and Williams-Sonoma.

The app, available free for download, has been designed to offer users the advantage of viewing catalogues on tablet devices. Users can use the app to: zoom in to see products up close; find products in nearby stores; and share a product with friends, said the company.

Users can also create their own "collages" of catalogues and view those made by others, said Google.

Google said on its official blog, "Today, mobile technologies can make catalog shopping more engaging, social and creative.

"With that in mind, we’ve created Google Catalogs — a free app for tablet devices that enables you to browse all of your favorite catalogs and interact with new layers of rich-media content."

However, a few user comments on App Store, where the app is available for download, say that the app is slow to load, has bugs and crashes frequently.
