Google is planning to launch an online shopping service that would deliver purchases to buyers within 24 hours, according to The Wall Street Journal.
This service is considered Google’s plan to challenge the supremacy of Amazon in the ecommerce space.
The search engine company is reportedly in talks with Macy’s, Gap and OfficeMax.
A Macy’s spokesman was quoted by The Wall Street Journal as saying that they had been approached with the idea, but they haven’t made any decisions.
Google is not planning on selling items directly to consumers, but it will leverage its product search feature by directing shoppers to participating retail websites.
The new shipping service, which would be swift, would be overseen by Google, the newspaper reported.
Google has declined to comment on this issue.
