Google will drop its support for the Chrome web browser on 32-bit Linux, Ubuntu Precise (12.04), and Debian 7 in March next year.

While the popular browser will still work on those platforms, staff member Dirk Pranke has written that it "will no longer receive updates and security fixes."

In a note in a Chromium developers Google group, Pranke said that "We intend to continue supporting the 32-bit build configurations on Linux to support building Chromium."

The news that open source version will still be supported on 32-bit Linux means users can use a fully supported Chrome-like browser on such devices, but not a secure version Chrome itself.
