Recently Google revealed that Andy Rubin, the architect of Android was moving to a still-undefined role, while Sundar Pichai, the earlier in-charge of Chrome web browser and applications like Google Drive and Gmail, assumed Rubin’s role.
Schmidt said: "We don’t make decisions based on who the leader is."
"We make the decisions at Google based on where the technology takes us."
Speculation of merger of both operating systems raised several times as both are open source operating systems developed by Google, with Android powering smartphones and tablets, and Chrome running on Chromebook laptops.
Additionally, Schmidt ruled out killing either operating system platform.
