Google adds music, TV and movies to mobile search

News: The update will be rolled out to iOS users soon.

By CBR Staff Writer

Google has announced an update to its mobile search that provides more details on musicians, actors, TV shows, and movies.

The update includes recommendations for similar content based on the song, movie or television show users have searched for.

For songs, it can offer lyrics and information about covers, while the search results also make it easier to explore past and upcoming episodes for television series.

For movies, users can view information on the cast and information on where it’s showing near their location.

The new feature is starting with Android phones and tablets, but the company said it will shortly roll out the update to iOS users.

Last year, Google created the Music Timeline, an interactive map of music’s journey through Google Play Music’s users’ libraries.

The timeline shows music genres colour coded, and highlights the rise and fall of their popularity over the years.
