The recent release of GoldenGate version 10 is claimed to deliver support and flexibility for heterogeneous environments, including log-based capture from Ingres source systems, to enable high-availability and zero-downtime upgrades and migrations.
By deploying the GoldenGate high-availability system, Ingres users are expected to facilitate log-based, real-time change data capture allowing logical data replication with high performance, low overhead, ease of use, and flexibility.
According to GoldenGate, its technology system directly reads and captures changed data from the Ingres database transaction logs and delivers that data to a secondary Ingres database-in real-time and with minimal impact.
This technology is expected to provide Ingres customers with availability for business-critical applications minimizing or eliminating downtime during planned or unplanned outages, including upgrades and migrations.
GoldenGate has said that its real-time, log-based change data capture (CDC) capabilities enable real-time data integration services. With the CDC capabilities offered by GoldenGate, Ingres customers can keep their environments available during unplanned outages, as well as during critical migrations and upgrades, whilst leveraging Ingres as the platform for a dedicated real-time reporting and business intelligence system.
