Gmail gains automatic translator

Google has enabled language translation in Gmail, allowing users to instantly translate emails they receive into 41 languages.

By CBR Staff Writer

All Gmail users who use it in its complete version or as part of the Apps collaboration and communication tool for organisations can access this feature. The new feature would greatly simplify communication between people using different languages as they can now compose mails in their native tongue. In case of Apps, the feature would help organisations that do business globally and communicate with employees, partners and customers across different cultures.Though the company acknowledged that the message translation technology is not yet perfect, it stated that if mistakes appear in the text, recipients would at the least get the gist of the message and can also switch between the original and translated versions of it.Users can install this feature by clicking on the Labs tab in the settings menu.  Apps Premier and Apps Education users may take the help of domain administrators to configure Gmail Labs as well.
