The growth of handsets, tablets and wireless infrastructure will drive global OEM purchasing of semiconductors to $280bn in 2013, up6.2% over last year, according to a new report.

IHS iSuppli’s Semiconductor Design & Spend Analysis reveals that investments across all the application markets are expected to be within a relatively flat ranging between a 2% drop and 6% growth.

Apple and Samsung will be the top OEM spenders on semiconductors for media tablets, with most of media tablet sales concentrated in the North America.

However, the report revealed that Ericsson, Huawei, Alcatel-Lucent, and Nokia Siemens Networks are expected to be the top OEM spenders in 2013.
