Getting jiggy with IT

Will Smith drops in on Defcon

By Cbr Rolling Blog

Like me, Hollywood celebs just love a good event to schmooze at. But who’d have thought that the recent Defcon 2013 would be the event of choice for Will Smith?

The Fresh Prince was getting jiggy with hackers and IT security boffins at the security conference all in the name of research for an upcoming film, apparently.

The actor had been invited by security consultant Apollo Robbins, who he watched perform a slight-of-hand demo at the event. It’s highly likely that Will was studying up for Focus, a comedy that is strongly rumoured to be in pre-production.

According to the rumour mill, the story will focus (no pun intended) on a veteran grifter who takes a young woman under his wing, but things get complicated when they become romantically involved.

I’ll keep my eyes peeled for it but, to be honest, I’m just annoyed that I missed the performance from Apollo Robbins – a real master of trickery and deception.

Have you spotted celebs at any tech events recently? I’m hoping to bump into Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Alba at Oracle OpenWorld next month.
