General Dynamics Information Technology, subsidiary of the US-based General Dynamics, has been selected by the UK government to offer services in its latest cloud procurement framework, G-Cloud iii.
As part of the deal, which enables the public-sector organisations to procure Information and Communication Technology (ICT) cloud services, the company will offer four different types of ICT cloud services to UK public-sector organisations.
The cloud services provided will include system lifecycle services like the next-generation development and integration of Microsoft Dynamics CRM, email-as-a-service, cyber security and learning services.
General Dynamics Information Technology UK division managing director, Stephen Meyler, said that G-Cloud is an important part of the government’s strategy to achieve its target to put half of all new public-sector IT spending on public cloud services by 2015.
"General Dynamics’ inclusion in the framework will provide public-sector buyers with a procurement vehicle for proven cloud services," Meyler said.
The third version of the UK government’s cloud framework is designed to encourage adoption of cloud computing in the public sector in cost effective way.
Under the G-Cloud framework, all central government ICT procurement agencies must consider a cloud offering before opting for ‘on-premise’ options.
