The French body, Hadopi entrusted with the responsibility of executing country’s "three strikes" anti piracy law has summoned a group of ten web users to explain their download habits.
The controversial law, which legislated by France in 2009 permits the authorities to fine up to $2,200 copyright infringers, or snap their internet connection.
Under the new law if anybody found violating copyright law more than three occasions can face sanctions and can be blacklisted from getting services from another ISP.
Country’s Hadopi anti-piracy initiative has so far sent first warnings by e-mail to 470,000 people and second warnings by mail to 20,000 and it is first such crack down on downloaders for their alleged third time violation.
The 10 people who said to have ignored earlier warnings have been asked to come and explain their actions to the agency.
After the meeting, Hadopi will decide whether to take legal action against the alleged copy right violators.
Hadopi said that during the last nine months since the law has been passed it has been tracking 18 million French IP addresses.
