Flipboard has released a revamped version of its social magazine app for Apple and Android devices, which allows readers to develop and share their own magazines.

Initially offered for Apple users, the revamped app will allow users to tailor their own content about topics, events, and personal interests. In addition, the firm has collaborated with Etsy, the online bazaar for handmade goods, in a bid to allow users to shop from Flipboard.

Aimed at allowing people to curate their content of interest, the app gathers content as per users’ interests from the networks and allows collecting various posts and developing a personal magazine.

Flipboard CEO Mike McCue said with more than 50 million users it is used every day as a place to catch up on the things people cares about. "But starting now, it’s also a great place to share opinions, save favorite stories, and express your point of view. This is our biggest release ever and one that we think will open an entirely new experience for our readers," McCue said.

According to the firm, the app can also be considered as a bookmark for Flipboard readers.

Flipboard was launched in July 2010 and raised $60.5m in funding from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byer, Index Ventures, and InsightVenture Partners, in addition to investors including Ashton Kutcher.
