Faronics has released Anti-Executable 3.4, the latest version of its application whitelisting software, which features full compatibility with Faronics Deep Freeze Maintenance Mode, and blacklist capability.
Faronics Anti-Executable offers additional layer of workstation protection to the existing blacklist offerings such as anti-virus without the need for definition updates. Application whitelisting builds an integral additional layer of security between anti-virus and the safety net of Deep Freeze.
The company said that the blacklist based protection is now integrated into Anti-Executable 3.4. Any executable program added to the blacklist will be blocked from running even if it is present on the whitelist. This ensures that banned applications are unable to run on any anti-executable protected computer.
Farconics claims that having whitelist and blacklist based protection integrated in one offering provides organisations with greater security and compliance while simplifying workstation management for IT departments. Other new features in Anti-Executable 3.4 include the ability to export whitelists in CSV format and improved event log viewing.
Anti-Executable 3.4 provides compatibility with Faronics flagship system consistency software Deep Freeze. Version 3.4 allows updates to its whitelist when it detects that Deep Freeze has entered into a thawed (unprotected) state, which allows authorised software and updates to be installed and retained on the computer.
In addition, Anti-Executable 3.4 will automatically update its whitelist so this new software is recognised and allowed to run on the computer.
