Facebook has launched the redesigned Pages layout for mobile devices which incorporates information regarding local businesses, ratings in addition to buttons to like and Call.
Aimed at assisting users quickly find business information on wireless devices, the new layout would play a key role in drawing traffic from Yelp, which is a similar service for reviews.
Facebook said in a statement that majority of Facebook users access Pages from their mobile phones.
"This is why we developed a new mobile Pages layout tailored to the way people look for information on their mobile devices," Facebook said.
"A Page is a business’s identity on Facebook, so we’re making it easier for your current and potential customers to interact with your Page in a way that’s both efficient and useful."
The company claimed that the redesign is mainly focused on cleaner and simpler look and shows only more relevant information up front, while the update is also aimed at offering streamlined and prominent methods to interact with Pages.
Pages allow businesses to use Facebook to talk with customers, display products and highlight their special offers.
Initially, the redesigned Pages feature will be launched for iOS devices, with further plans for devices powered by Google’s Android operating system in May 2013.
