Facebook has introduced its Home app for the UK users, which would allow the social networking firm sit on the home screen of Android powered phones.
Currently available for download from Google Play Store, the new app is compatible with smartphones including Samsung Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S III, HTC One X+, One X or One.
The application will replace users’ home screens with updates from friends while incorporating text messages with Facebook chat upon turning on the phone without opening any app or access a mobile website.
Facebook Home offers a constant stream of photos and updates from friends, in addition to other improved notifications, and a messaging feature known as Chat Heads that enables users to chat with contacts without requiring to open a new application.
In addition, the app allows viewing favourite apps and post them on to Facebook from the same location.
Facebook’s updates for iPhone and iPad apps will introduce Chat Heads for messages and Stickers in the form of shorthand for expressing emotions, while updates to the news feed will also include viewing larger stories and pictures.
Initially, the HTC First is the only dedicated smartphone with Facebook Home built-in, which is already launched in the US, while the device is anticipated for the UK launch during summer 2013.
