By CBR Staff Writer

Facebook is reportedly planning to unveil its first smartphone, which uses a version of Google’s Android software.

The social network has sent out invitation to media saying that, "come see our new home on Android", and rumored to be working with HTC in developing the smartphone.

TechCrunch reported that the project could be called ‘Facebook Home’ and and its software will be a tweaked version of Android with Facebook built-in functions.

According to TechCrunch, it may include Facebook news feed stories and data splayed out right on the home screen, along with easy access to Facebook apps.

The smartphone is expected to use social network’s apps like messenger and will allow users to share from other apps too.

Last month, the social network said it is partnering with mobile operators to allow free data access for consumers to use Facebook messaging.

The company doubled its mobile revenues in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2012 beating analyst expectations.
