Facebook has introduced a new feature known as Trusted Contacts account recovery that will help users retrieve their locked account through the help of friends.

The feature allows Facebook users to establish lists of friends capable of offering codes to unlock accounts.

Facebook said in a statement the feature allows recovering account with help from friends.

"With trusted contacts, there’s no need to worry about remembering the answer to your security question or filling out long web forms to prove who you are," Facebook said.

Facebook security settings allow users to deal with lists of trusted contacts, while members of the social network locked out of their accounts would require security codes from at least three friends to retrieve the account.

"Once you’ve set up your trusted contacts, if you ever have trouble logging in, you’ll have your trusted contacts as an option to help," Facebook said.

"You just need to call your trusted contacts and let them know you need their help to regain access to your account."

The user requires the security codes from each friend, which should assist in avoiding a single trusted contact from gaining access to locked account.
