F-Secure introduces mobile security offering with parental control

New app includes Safe Applications which employs a simple 'tick-in-a-box' system to provide parental control

By CBR Staff Writer

F-Secure has released its latest version Mobile Security 7.5, a security offering for mobile devices to provide improved security and parental control capabilities on Android devices to meet the mobile security concerns with young people using smartphones.

F-Secure’s anti-virus technologies will be complemented with new cloud-based services that provide immediate information on whether a mobile application is considered safe to install which provides comprehensive protection against spying programs and the full range of other mobile threats.

F-Secure new application includes Safe Applications which employs a simple ‘tick-in-a-box’ system that makes it easy for parents to select the types of apps to restrict on a mobile device and the new apps also include Safe Contacts, which enables the user or parents to define a list of safe individuals and to control the calls, text messages and multi-media messages received.

In addition, F-Secure has also introduced a new End User Web Portal for users to access the product’s anti-theft features, which is accessible via web and mobile browsers, allowing users to launch key anti-theft operations like Remote Lock, Wipe, Locate, Alarm and Unlock from an intuitive web interface.

F-Secure Mobile Security also introduces its BlackBerry Anti-Theft client for F-Secure’s operator partners, making available an even more comprehensive line of security offerings. Should a RIM device be lost or stolen, Mobile Security users can remotely sound an alarm or lock the device to prevent unauthorized access to private information.

F-Secure Mobile & OEM Sales & Business Development director Marko Rapeli said F-Secure Mobile Security creates new opportunities for F-Secure operator partners as we expand to support operating systems like RIM.

"Enhanced parental control features and the new End User Web Portal make this a compelling service as part of an operator’s family plan offering. By allowing operators to offer targeted and relevant services to their subscribers, Mobile Security can drive top-line growth and strengthen an overall brand, " said Rapeli.
