To enable consumers combine content from all compatible UPnP/DLNA sources in home and authorised sources on internet

By CBR Staff Writer

Eyecon Technologies has unveiled an integrated device with the Marvell’s SheevaPlug, powered by Marvell Sheeva CPU technology.

Eyecon said that the integration enables it to offer an always-on, plug-and-go device for consumers to combine content from all compatible UPnP/DLNA sources in the home and authorised sources on internet.

When combined with Eyecon’s personalised user interface application for smartphones and other portable devices, users can browse, preview, queue, playback, and control content on any connected home audio or video player, Eyecon said.

Meir Friedlander, chief executive officer of Eyecon, said: With the number of digital content sources multiplying, consumers need a solution that provides personalised and portable discovery, search, and navigation capabilities. Our portable interface application, combined with the independent media control point on the SheevaPlug, delivers on the promise of connected home entertainment.

Reportedly, the Marvell SheevaPlug is designed to enable always on, always connected, and environmentally friendly computing that is available for developers and end-users. It uses a Marvell Kirkwood System-on-a-Chip (SoC) based on an embedded 1.2GHz Sheeva CPU equipped with 512 Mbytes of FLASH and 512 Mbytes of DRAM.

Simon Milner, vice president and general manager of the enterprise business unit, consumer and communications business group at Marvell Semiconductor, said: “Eyecon’s software uses the Marvell SheevaPlug to enable users to preview and engage with their personal content, expanding the Marvell Plug Computing ecosystem in the digital home.
