IronNet Cybersecurity, which was founded by the former director of the US National Security Agency (NSA) Keith Alexander, has raised $32.5m funding to continue the development of a cybersecurity solution.
Trident Capital Cybersecurity led the Series A funding round, which also included Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.
The new solution is intended to revolutionise cyber defense for the private sector. IronNet’s technology allows real-time visualisation of a company’s total cyber infrastructure.
The technology features advanced behavioral models and elite petabyte-scale analytics to identify anomalous activity and support proactive mitigation.
IronNet was founded shortly after Alexander left the NSA in spring 2014. The company’s team includes former leaders of the Defense Department, the National Counterterrorism Center, and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, as well as cyber experts from the commercial sector.
Alexander said: "Cybersecurity has become the most pressing threat to both the global private sector and our national security, and existing approaches and defenses to protect networks are falling short.
"IronNet is creating a new standard in cybersecurity by providing technology that gives our clients an unprecedented level of network visibility, data control, and security."
