Ericsson to manage radio access network of UK’s Three UK and EE

Ericsson will offer fully managed end to end operations services.

By CBR Staff Writer

Ericsson has secured a five year contract from Mobile Broadband Network (MBNL), a joint venture company between mobile operators, Three UK and EE, to manage the operations and maintenance of its radio access network in the UK.

Under the deal, Ericsson will offer fully managed end to end operations services including the network operations centre, network performance and optimisation, field support and maintenance, as well as multivendor spare parts management service for MBNL’s 2G and 3G networks.

The company will also be responsible for managing EE’s and Three UK’s 4G LTE RAN networks, which are being deployed Huawei and Samsung respectively.

In addition, Ericsson will provide a customer-centric operational model to offer further insight into Three UK and EE networks to improve the customer user experience.

MBNL managing director Graham Payne said that since the formation of MBNL in 2007, the company has consolidated a complex network infrastructure to deliver the better service at lower cost.

"Ericsson will deliver a further enhancement to the service levels we achieve, and drive continuous service improvement and innovation to further extend our lead in positive customer experience," Payne said.

Ericsson managed services head, Valter D’Avino, said: "Together with MBNL we have covered new ground for managed services over the last four years and we are delighted to take this partnership into a new phase, supporting MBNL’s vision for the future."
