Epicor Software has launched a new Secure Data Manager, which it claims to help retailers achieve integrated system validation for payment card security compliance.

The company claims that the new Epicor Secure Data Manager is a payment-handling offering that achieves single Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS) validation across multiple retail systems while providing authorisation and settlement functionality.

According to Epicor, the new Epicor Secure Data Manager (SDM) allows payment card information to be stored in a central repository where PA-DSS requirements are consolidated and managed. By handling data from inception through storage, Epicor SDM maintains data privacy by providing neighbouring applications with a token for reference rather than specific credit card details. Connected systems then pass the token into the data stream, and Epicor SDM utilises the token’s data to determine the credit card information needed for processing each transaction.

In addition to integrated system validation, Epicor SDM also includes authorisation and settlement features including centralised key management, secure data service for encrypting securing data, secure payment service for storing and retrieving payment records, and payment capture service for point-of-sale (POS) transactions.

David Henning, executive vice president and general manager of Epicor Retail, said: “Epicor’s new Secure Data Manager solution allows retailers to reduce the overall footprint of cardholder data within the organisation and the PCI compliance controls required for governing that data.”
