Emulex provides SAN connectivity

It ensures end-to-end data integrity and protects sensitive data from unauthorized access

By CBR Staff Writer

Emulex Corporation, a provider of converged networking services for the data center, has announced that its LightPulse fiber channel host bus adapters support the new HP StorageWorks 6400 and 8400 enterprise virtual arrays, or EVAs, running Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 and Linux operating systems.

According to Emulex, the LightPulse fiber channel host bus adapters (HBAs) offer customers a range of capabilities, including: comprehensive virtualization capabilities with support for N Port ID Virtualization and virtual fabric; host to Fabric FC-SP authentication, which ensures data integrity and protects sensitive data from unauthorized access; support for message signaled interrupts eXtended (MSI-X), which improves host utilization and enhances application performance; common driver model allows a single driver to support all Emulex HBAs on a given OS, which lowers administrative costs and speeds server deployment; and support for 8Gb/s, 4Gb/s & 2Gb/s fiber channel devices.

Steve Daheb, chief marketing officer and senior vice president of business development at Emulex, said: Emulex LightPulse HBAs provide customers with optimal performance, simplified management and interoperability across a range of HP StorageWorks arrays and operating systems, giving customers the flexibility they need in a storage area network (SAN) connectivity service.

Emulex is enagged in converged networking services for the data center. It provides a single framework that intelligently connects every server, network and storage device within the data center. Through strategic collaboration and integrated partner services, Emulex provides its customers with industry leading business value, operational flexibility and strategic advantage.
