EMC has unveiled the new integrated data warehouse system, Data Computing Appliance, that uses the Greenplum’s massively parallel processing (MPP) architecture version 4.0.
The company said the data warehousing technology from Greenplum is a key enabler of "big data" clouds and self-service analytics, and enables enterprises store, manage and analyse data faster, that is generated from various sources such as always-on networks, the Web, consumers, surveillance systems and sensors.
The new Data Computing Appliance integrates database, compute, storage and network into one system, and delivers data loading performance of 10 terabytes (TB) an hour.
It is integrated with EMC’s replication, backup and recovery and deduplication technologies for information protection, and comes available in flexible half-rack, full-rack, and multiple-rack appliance configurations for terabyte to petabyte-scale requirements.
EMC Information Infrastructure Products president and COO Pat Gelsinger said, the Greenplum Data Computing Appliance redefines the enterprise data warehouse paradigm for customers and will be a key element of private clouds, enabling even more business agility and unlocking new sources of economic value from existing data streams.
