Hackers claim to have breached the email accounts of former US president, George Bush and six people close to him.

By CBR Staff Writer

A hacker claims to have breached email accounts of George Bush and people close to him while circulating private photographs online.

The hacker calls himsel "Guccifer," and has said to have stolen emails regarding Bush’s hospitalisation, addresses and personal details of members of his family.

The hacked emails also include a message to Bush from President Obama expressing concern over the former President’s health.

A spokesman for George Bush said that a criminal inquiry has been launched into how a hacker was able to breach email accounts.

"There’s a criminal investigation under way," spokesman said. "I can’t get into the specifics."

According to the Smoking Gun website, the hacker gained access to confidential telephone numbers and addresses of the President’s family members and friends from emails between 2009 and 2012.

Additionally, the hacker obtained photos of paintings Bush was working on that he had emailed his sister.
