EasyJet to manage fast-growing workforce with Workday’s HR application

The airline plans to move its 8,000 employees onto Workday’s cloud-based HR system.

By Amy-Jo Crowley

Budget airline easyJet is looking to move its 8,000 employees onto Workday’s Human Capital Management (HCM) software in a deal it hopes will better manage its workforce.

The UK firm, founded in 1998, has grown its workforce from a few hundred employees to several thousand and last year flew more than 60 million passengers.

It therefore wanted an "easy-to-use" cloud-based HR application that would help employees integrate into the business efficiently, manage jobs across all locations and increase transparency.

Alita Benson, group director of people at easyJet, said: "Our employees are really crucial to the airline’s success as our friendly customer service is one of the reasons our passengers choose to fly with us and our staff differentiate us from our competition,"

The HCM application will allow easyJet employees and managers to update personal data and view reports on mobile and tablet devices, which easyJet hopes will make them more productive.

Workday’s analytic features are also built into the HCM application, which should help the airline speed up decision-making and reduce reliance on IT-support.

"With Workday, we found an HR cloud application with the depth of functionality, flexibility, and engaging user experience, which we believe will help us achieve our HR transformation goals and grow our industry leadership," said Benson.

Chano Fernandez, president, EMEA, at Workday, added: "As easyJet looks to the future with Workday, it will be able to remove complexity from its HR processes, empower employees with the tools they need to stay focused on customers, and deliver more value back to the business as it continues its remarkable growth across Europe."
