Download Apple OS X Yosemite for free

The new OS has been redesigned to improve user experience.

By CBR Staff Writer

With the introduction of the next generation iPad and iMac, Apple has launched OS X Yosemite, which is now available for download from Apple’s website for free.

The operating system has been redesigned to narrow down the gap between Mac and iOS allowing users to receive phone calls, and resume activities started on Mac in iOS8 devices.

Apple has redesigned Spotlight, iTunes and Safari and used translucent elements to reveal the features in the desktop that generally gets hidden behind the activity window.

Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering Craig Federighi, said: "OS X Yosemite is the most advanced version of OS X we’ve ever built, with a brand new design, amazing Continuity features and powerful versions of the apps you use every day.

"OS X Yosemite ushers in the future of computing, where your Apple devices all work together seamlessly and magically. It’s something only Apple can do, and it’s available today."

OS X Yosemite update comes at 5.16GB, and will run on Mac running on OS X 10.6.8 or later.
