"We need to worry about security," said a businessman as I hopped onto my train to work this morning.

He had spoken the ominous words, I presume, to his colleague, who responded: "Exactly, because the marketing team and customer services team will use this operating system in very different ways."

Exactly what kind of business they work at and what kind of solution they are implementing remains a mystery, but it was a wee reminder that business people everywhere are thinking more and more about security.

It seems to me, though, that if someone feels they need to worry about something, they probably need to relax a bit.

So, should we all be worried about security? Aware, yes. Concerned, yes. But worry is surely for the unprepared.

This is why it’s so important the companies and their employees stay up-to-date with all the potential security threats and threat trends.

Next week I’ll be heading to RSA Conference 2013 in Amsterdam, where I hope to speak to knowledgeable people in the industry and pick their brains. Knowledge is power, after all.

If there are any other people out there who do worry about IT security and the threats that their businesses face, I would recommend getting out to RSA and other events like it. They really are the best places to learn. And, by sharing knowledge, companies stand the best chance of being prepared for anything.
