Document Storage Systems (DSS) has acquired Salt Lake City, UT-based Informatix Laboratories Corporation (ILC), a healthcare management and billing services provider. DSS said that it would leverage ILC’s resource and patient management (RPMS) system to offer products and services to ILC customers.

DSS is a Florida-based software packages provider for the Veterans Health Administration’s VistA system. DSS informed that RPMS and VistA are technologically close in functionality and practical design.

Gordon Moreshead, president of ILC said: ILC was at a critical juncture where we needed to grow in order to adequately support our customer base and to continue to develop enhancements to PAMS and to roll out the product to more sites. As a part of the DSS team, we will use their existing resources in marketing, sales, support, training and product implementation to improve our ability to implement PAMS in more sites, more quickly. Also, we will be able to provide to our tribal customers a suite of integrated add on products that can help with both clinical applications as well as revenue generating applications.

The company informed that the products set to be offered to IHS and Tribal sites will include DSS products such as the Release of Information system, DocManager, the document scanning and indexing system, the Mental Health Suite and Clinical Note Template suite of over 300 clinical documentation tools.

Joe Byers, vice president of sales & marketing at DSS, said: IHS and Tribal Health Centres can now take advantage of the enhanced speed, accuracy and reporting capabilities that these products provide; allowing providers to spend less time on paperwork and more time with their patients. We want to be a positive partner for technology change within the RPMS environment.
