German telecom operator Deutsche Telekom and the daily deals company Groupon announced that they have entered into an agreement to cooperate in mobile internet businesses.

As per the alliance, Groupon’s coupons will be made available to Deutsche Telekom’s mobile customers across Europe beginning in the first half of 2012.

It also would significantly enhance Deutsche Telekom’s position as a leading provider of the latest applications for its customers, according to Groupon.

Deutsche Telekom, Senior Vice President Business Development Heikki Makijarvi said Groupon is one of the global leaders in the online and mobile commerce business. "Our partnership with Groupon allows us to strengthen our stake in this rapidly expanding and exciting new market segment, while diversifying our portfolio and accelerating our time to market for innovative products and services at the same time," said Makijarvi.

This is the first time that Groupon would partner with a multi-national telecom provider to distribute its products and services, it was revealed.
