Demandware, a provider of on-demand eCommerce platforms, has announced a new mobile commerce application as part of the Demandware SiteGenesis storefront, which it claims to allow retailers to easily build smartphone shopping destinations.
According to Demandware, its mobile commerce application includes a customisable mobile storefront with the functionality needed to create an enhanced shopping experience on a mobile device including search, navigation, product catalog, pricing, checkout, content management, security and inventory.
With full integration into the Demandware eCommerce Platform, retailers will be able to deploy, customise and manage day-to-day operations of mobile channel. It also provides a unified environment for managing both the eCommerce website and the mobile storefront simultaneously, the company said.
The company said that the mobile commerce application is compatible with all major mobile browsers, including Safari, Android, Opera and Internet Explorer, and with Smartphone devices, such as iPhone and Blackberry.
The application will be available as part of the Winter ’10 release of Demandware eCommerce platform, scheduled for Q4 2009. The Winter ‘ 10 release will also include 39 other new features including Active Merchandising, with enhanced slotting to include any content or catalog article, besides dynamic content. It also added the ability to export Active Merchandising data into other analytics systems, Demandware said.
In addition, Winter’ 10 release also includes 16 new search features and enhancements, and new promotion types for fixed price product promotions and the ability to export coupon code redemptions, the company added.
