Dell has unveiled new solutions, systems and services, which the company says are designed to help customers build efficient and affordable cloud computing and hyperscale data centre installations.

The company claims that the new integrated cloud infrastructure offerings comprises of pre-tested, pre-assembled and supported hardware, software and services that enables public and private cloud builders to deploy and manage cloud infrastructures with ease.

Dell is launching web application platform as a service (PaaS) offering that is designed to address the key issues around web application development and deployment. It will combine Dell cloud-optimised servers and services with fully-integrated web application cloud software from cloud computing firm Joyent.

The company also created a new Cloud Partner Program to expand the options available for customers looking to build and deploy public and private clouds. The company has added three new cloud ISV partners, Aster Data, Greenplum and Canonical, offering cloud blueprints for data analytics, self-service data warehousing, and an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud capability.

Dell said that it will collaborate with Microsoft on the Windows Azure platform, with Dell and Microsoft offering services, and Microsoft continuing to invest in Dell hardware for Windows Azure infrastructure.

In addition, the company is extending its PowerEdge server family with the new C-Series that is optimised for customers in HPC, Web 2.0, gaming, social networking, energy, SaaS providers and public and private cloud builders.

According to Dell, the PowerEdge servers include, high-memory, cluster-optimised compute node server C1100, the data analytics, cloud compute platform and cloud storage server PowerEdge C2100, and 4-node cloud and cluster optimised shared infrastructure server C6100.

Dell services will also offer a suite of cloud services to help customers assess, deploy, design and manage dedicated offerings. The services will include workshops to assess infrastructure and application readiness, and services targeted at design, development, deployment, implementation and maintenance of cloud infrastructure.
