Dell has partnered with Red Hat to develop enterprise-grade private cloud systems based on OpenStack platform to help users in implementing scalable cloud computing models.
Under the partnership, Dell will be the first OEM to manufacture systems based on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform and will deliver the systems within Dell Cloud Services.
With the collaboration, the companies expect to strengthen their relationship, while offering customers with co-engineered applications as well as combined portfolio of cloud expertise, enterprise innovation, and dedicated support.
Red Hat Products and Technologies president Paul Cormier said the announcement to co-engineer OpenStack systems marks a significant milestone for both companies and customers.
"Dell and Red Hat are committed to jointly developing and delivering enterprise-grade OpenStack offerings to help customers pursue private cloud today, and advanced computing models in the future," Cormier added.
Dell Enterprise Solutions chief commercial officer and president Marius Haas the agreement to co-engineer OpenStack solutions with Red Hat takes the company’s commitment a step further in helping customers obtain and deploy OpenStack solutions for an enterprise-grade, private cloud infrastructure to meet their evolving business needs.
"We will extend our work with Red Hat to apply our combined experience in commercialising open source for the benefit of our mutual customers as well as the open-source community on its development of networking, storage and compute capabilities," Haas added.
Currently, Dell also offers expert guidance in helping assess, build, operate and run cloud environments as well as enable and accelerate enterprise OpenStack adoption using the Dell Cloud Consulting and Application Services.
Following the integration, Dell also plans to work on Red Hat’s OpenStack Networking project to allow Software-Defined Networking and Networking-as-a-Service and OpenStack Telemetry that will offer OpenStack resource instrumentation.
